On September 14th 2024 The New York Transit Museum ran two fan trips from 96th Street 2nd Avenue to Coney Island and back using R32 subway cars. The event was in commemoration of the R32s turning 60 years old. With a train made up 3 married pairs of R32s one being the pair that was made to look as delivered. They took an interesting routing after departing 96th Street 2nd Avenue they headed to Coney Island via the BMT Broadway Line and the BMT Brighton Line to Coney Island. After passing through Coney Island Stillwell Avenue station they proceeded into Coney Island Yard for a brief loop and look around. The trip northbound was via the BMT West End Line and IND Sixth Avenue Line. To get from the Manhattan Bridge to the IND Sixth Avenue Line they had to utilize the Christy Street Connection that was built to connect the IND and BMT systems and opened in 1968 after the R32s entered service.
The train arrives at 96th Street 2nd Avenue before the first trip of the day.
