TS2020 Siemens ACS-64 Traction Physics & Sound Mod Update

This is the Siemens ACS-64 Traction Physics & Sound Upgrade Pack Update for TS2020 (Loco Idle, Traction Motor Blower, & Amfleet Brake Sound Update; 5/20/20).

In order to utilize this freeware sound & physics upgrade, you must have purchased the NEC: New York - New Haven Route Add-On avaliable at Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/258...

This is a freeware pack; in no way is it to be used for commercial purposes. You are free, however to further modify the enhancements found in this pack for personal use if you so choose.

The purpose of this pack is to allow the player to run the ACS-64 in either Boost Mode (6400 kW) or Continuous Mode (5000 kW). It also corrects the E-bell sound so that there is doppler effect.

2016 one-year anniversary update: Replaced default horn with new, higher quality horn recording.

2016 mid-year update: K5LA horn quill added. Details below. Motor sound pitch timing has also been updated; this is preliminary and will be improved upon in the future.

2020 mid-year update: Locomotive idle (external & internal), dynamic traction motor blower, & dynamic Amfleet brake squeal sounds added.

Parameter Change Log:

  1. Three different "tractive effort vs speed" files included; one for boost mode, one for continuous mode, and the default text file that the game engine reads.

  2. Maximum sustainable speed increased to 125 mph via changes to .bin file parameters.

  3. Regenerative brake adjusted to operate down to 1 mph. Maximum effort (34,000 lbs) available from 75 mph down to 3 mph.

  4. Ampere parameters adjusted so that 1 amp is = to 100 lbft; maximum tractive amps/lbft = 720, maximum braking amp/lbft = 340.

  5. Adjusted traction motor sound proxyxml file so that traction motor sound voume is unaffected by ampere parameter change.

  6. Bell Sound File is in mono.

  7. Bell Sound File is 16 bit.

  8. Bell Sound File is 44,100 hZ

  9. I have also played around with the volume of the K5LA in respects to the bell, tuning down the originally loud bell and raising the airchime volume.

  10. This pack also corrects the coupler issue with the Amfleet coaches exhibited in Version 48.9a of TS2015.

  11. Included is the ACS-64 throttle fix by DaveDewhurst on RWA, which "makes resting in 0% (Coast) easier." All credit goes to him for developing the fix for the throttle.

  12. The throttle fix messes up the F4 HUD. Just don't operate with the F4 HUD.

  13. Horn Quill added courtesy of Matt Gorres (OpenRailer90 on RWA). Function is the same as the Pacific Surfliner F59PHI; hit the N key for the quill.

  14. Low speed motor sound adjusted. High speed sound adjustment to come at a later date.

  15. Numbering range adjusted (600-641, 643-665, 667-670).

IMPORTANT; Install Instructions; REMEMBER TO ALWAYS CREATE BACKUP FILES TO REVERT TO INCASE THE INSTALLATION DOES NOT WORK AS PLANNED!

  1. Open the following directory: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\RailWorks\Assets\RSC\NewYorkNewHaven"

  2. Then open the "Railworks_ACS-64_Traction_Physics_&_Sound_Mod_Update.rar" file.

  3. Drag all three file folders ("RailVehicles", "Audio", & "InputMappers") from the .rar in step 2 into the directory you opened in step 1. Overwrite if asked.

  4. The installation should be complete. Run TS2012 to check.

Utilization instructions:

  1. The premise of this pack is that you can only run the ACS-64 in one mode at any one time.

  2. The default mode of the pack is "boost mode."

  3. Notice that in addition to the "TractiveEffortVsSpeed" text file (default file), there are two other files; Boost = "TractiveEffortVsSpeed (6400kW)" and Continuous = "TractiveEffortVsSpeed (5000kW)".

  4. Before playing TS2016, choose the version you want to run (boost or continuous), then proceed open "TractiveEffortVsSpeed" AND the text file that corresponds to the mode you wish to operate in which would be located in the directory stated in step 7 of the install instructions.

  5. Select (CTRL + A) and copy (CTRL + C) all contents in the text file that corresponds to the mode you chose, and then select (CTRL + A) all contents in the "TractiveEffortVsSpeed" file and paste (CTRL + V) over the text until both files open are identical.

  6. Save the default file.

  7. Repeat steps 1 and 2 from the install instructions.

  8. Drag the "TractiveEffortVsSpeed" text file into the .ap file directory and overwite when prompted.

  9. The installation should be complete. Run TS2020 to check.

  10. If you wish to change the mode you are running in at any time, exit out of TS2016, and repeat steps 3 through 7.
